Extended Core Skills Group B: December 12-13, 2024, January 30-31, 2025, March 6-7, 2025, and April 24-25, 2025
If you have completed the EFT Externship, are legally allowed to practice psychotherapy in your state, and are interested in deepening your understanding of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) while strengthening your confidence in practicing EFT, please join us!
Our Extended Core Skills of EFT offers therapists supportive opportunities for direct, hands on learning of the EFT approach in a safe, positive, and fun environment.
We will practice how to facilitate new couple conversations that increase the feelings of secure attachment, closeness, and connection. In this small group environment, you will learn the EFT model, the steps, stages, and interventions through experiential exercises, role-plays, and watching videotaped examples. Together, we will also observe your own work and your peers’ work via video recordings and offer you feedback and guidance. Throughout this process, you will receive personal attention from experienced EFT Therapists and Supervisors.
Emotion is the primary focus when it comes to EFT so we need to learn how to work with emotions and how to access and deepen them. In the process of safe, positive experiential exercises, we will get in touch with emotions. One of our goals as EFT Therapists is to learn how to attune and drop down into our clients’ experience with curiosity, wonder, and compassion. Once we have that down, we can more easily track emotions and attachment-related themes and understand how the couple’s negative patterns are co-created and maintained. It can be quite helpful and important to understand what happens moment by moment within them and within you.
Emotions are the music of the relational dance. Our couples need our help changing the music of their distressed relationship so that they can begin to change the steps in their dance towards increased safety, connection, closeness, and intimacy. In our Core Skills Advanced Training, we will spend time together learning how to tune our ears to the music of the relational dances.
Each participant is required to present one couples therapy session audio or video (15 minute segment) for case consultation. Please do not sign up for core skills if you don’t currently see 1-3 couples regularly. We will discuss the details at our 1st Core Skills session. If you choose to pursue EFT Certification, the four sessions and brief video presentation will fulfill some of the ICEEFT requirements for certification. More details about EFT Certification are available at ICEEFT.com.
At the end of our Core Skills Series, we believe that you will feel a greater sense of confidence in your ability to help couples in distress and a renewed sense of enthusiasm and passion about your clinical work.

Diversity: We aim to cultivate a climate of inclusion, an environment where all can feel safe, valued, cared for, and given an opportunity to form meaningful connections with each other. In all facets of our work we strive to embody what we hope to see in the world – a just, loving humanity and community in which people are free to be themselves fully – where people can embrace their most basic universal human attachment needs without fear of persecution or marginalization as a result of religion, race, ethnic or national origin, sexual/affectional orientation and preferences, gender expression, family structure, age, class, mental health, physical character or disability. These values are inherent in the attachment science and humanistic approach to intervention that all our work is based on.
